Privacy, in plain language.
Pin Shift is built around local saved places. This policy explains what stays on your device and when platform services are used. Last updated November 4, 2026.
Places stay on your device
Saved place names and coordinates are stored locally on your phone. Pin Shift does not require a Pin Shift account and does not send your saved place list to a Pin Shift server.
Location permission
Pin Shift asks for foreground location access when you choose to save or recenter on your current position. You can instead choose a location manually on the map.
Maps and search
On Android, map tiles are downloaded from OpenStreetMap. On iPhone, maps use Apple Maps. Address search uses the geocoding service available on your device. These providers receive requests for the map area or address you look up, and network requests expose your IP address.
Android simulation
When you start simulation on Android, Pin Shift sends the selected coordinates to Android’s location service until you stop it. Android requires you to select Pin Shift as the mock location app in Developer options.
iPhone
On iPhone, Pin Shift can save, search, and display places. iOS does not allow an ordinary app to replace the device location for other apps.
VPN connection status
On Android, Pin Shift checks whether the active network uses a VPN and can open system VPN settings. It does not route your traffic, request VPN credentials, or contact an IP-location service to detect your VPN country.
Data deletion
Remove individual places inside Pin Shift. Uninstalling the app removes its locally stored data according to your operating system’s app data behavior.
Policy changes
If the app begins collecting or transmitting additional information, this page will be updated before that behavior is released.
